KMRU (DE/KE)
Joseph Kamaru, aka KMRU is a sound artist, experimental ambient musician, and DJ raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and currently based in Berlin where he is a Master’s student in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the Universität der Künste. His delicate, textural compositions blend field recordings and indigenous sounds with expansive, hypnotic drones. Initially producing beat-driven music, he earned international acclaim for his ambient works, such as the 2020 full-length Peel on Editions Mego.
